Reston

Reston, located in western Fairfax County, Virginia, is a community in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Established in 1964 as one of the first post-World War II “new towns” in the U.S., Reston was envisioned by Robert E. Simon Jr. as an urban utopia with inclusive amenities and no racial restrictions. Despite changes in ownership, with Gulf Oil and Mobil taking control, Reston has grown steadily, boasting a population of around 60,000 in 2007. The town’s economy thrives on high technology and information sectors.
